What can you do to help?
- Volunteer one to two hours each week to tutor an adult student. Volunteers do not need teaching experience but must be at least 18 years of age with a GED or High School diploma. All training and materials are provided.
- Volunteer your time and talents to help with other tasks for the Council such as making phone calls, delivering brochures, organizing events and more.
- Spread the word that literacy programs are available to adults. Many adults are not aware of the services available for them in our community.
- Support those who want to be a student. If someone you know wants to participate in a literacy program, offer assistance with child care or transportation. Child care and transportation are the two most common barriers for adult learners.
If not your time, then donate money. Funding is always a limiting factor to serving more in need.
